I have cancer and it sucks. I am gonna write about my experience with the US Healthcare system to help deal with the stress.
I’m starting this practice in the middle of discovery / treatment & I have AuDHD. My thoughts are rarely linear.
In a couple of weeks i’m going to start chemo or immunotherapy. My doctor continues to press that the chances are very slim that my tumor is one that responds well to immunotherapy. For several reasons, i do hope i do qualify. Its a cleaner route and has a better health outcome. We’re waiting for the test results to come back.
I’ve had a PICC line before, this past august 2026. While it was nice to not have to be poked as much, the PICC line requires a bit of maintenance. Once a week the dressings on a PICC need to be changed. Its also, due to its placement on my upper arm, was always bumping into my body or other things in my general vicinity. Also, at the end of the second week of having it, it had slightly came out and would leak small amounts of blood for the last day i was hospitalized.
After getting the port yesterday, i was sore on my right side and kinda genuinely felt like a truck hit me. As of this morning the soreness is gone and I don't feel the port 95% of the time.
The next step is to have it used for something, treatment, blood draw, CT contrast.
