Kingmaker Write Up: Part 3

@cass.cityboundforest.com

Hello everyone. Welcome to my Kingmaker writeup. I am the GM of a four-player party playing Kingmaker in Pathfinder 2nd edition, and I have some...opinions. What follows here is a small write up on what I would do differently if I were to run this campaign again. This also functions as advice for GMs who wish to run Kingmaker themselves.

If you haven't read the previous parts, feel free to start at Part 0 and get up to speed.

Part 3: Rivers Run Red

At inital time of writing this writeup (I will continue to post more as we continue to play this adventure path), this is where my players are. I did not know that Kingdom turns take two weeks in-game at the end of each month as it was a small single sentence at the beginning of this chapter. I did not know how sloggish Kingdom turns could become. My advice here (on top of the homebrew and house rules that are baked into my separate guide that I had made for the Kingdom rules) is to add a multiplier (minimum of x1) to Kingdom XP received that is equal to the difference between the Kingdom's level and the party's level. Even with Vance and Kerenshara's homebrew XP increases, I still had to do a lot of Kingdom turns to get my party's kingdom to be within 1 level of the party. This XP multiplier decreases that. And if all else fails, you can just level up your party's kingdom with extra XP if you'd like (like I did to get them exploring again).
