Welcome to my new blog posting about beery stuff both on and off my travel's mostly in the North West occasionally North Wales

A Sunday Stout

Enjoying a delicious Oatmeal Stout from superb local brewery Peerless Brewing, Birkenhead. Smooth, creamy and made with real oats! image

Magic Dragon Brewery Tap, Wrexham

Enjoying a trip to the fab brewery tap from also fab brewery, Magic Dragon, Wrexham in Wrexham city centre! one of the favourites for my POTY! Currently enjoying Magic Dragon Coffee Porter, a dark coffee porter made with real coffee from Tilley Green Coffee Company. They currently have six real ales on, also available keg, cider, spirits/shorts and pub snacks, it is definitely worth a visit!

Wrexham is quite close to the Wirral & Chester also Liverpool and Manchester not for away. For me its a hour train from Bidston station on the Wirral which connects to Liverpool and the West Kirby line with they next stop down, Birkenhead North which connects to the New Brighton line.

Liverpool has a regular train service from Lime Street, Manchester I believe is a multiple train journey. Chester also has regular direct train and a bus. It is a short walk to the brewery tap from either Wrexham train station

One massive bonus is beauiful Llangollen is only a 40 minute bus trip from Wrexham with a regular bus from/to the bus station though does go hourly at night.

Red Fox Beer Festival 2025

Starting tomorrow(12th June) in the fab Red Fox Pub, Thornton Hough on the Wirral, one of the Peninisula's top pubs, their annual beer festival gets underway(til Sunday) featuring 30 cask ales also keg & cider available. They wll have a charity quiz and music each night.

It is most definitely worth a visit it though may be a bit pricey for drink though it is FREE to enter yippee! no tickets required. It is held in the back garden of the pub although ales (and other drinks are also available on the pub's inside bar).

Getting there by public transport is best by bus, the 487 from Liverpool to (Neston/Ness Gardens) stops right outside both directions and also covers Birkenhead and various parts of Wirral, Bebington, Spital etc. The nearest train is quite away from the pub, Spital and a bus would then be required.

A couple of cask ales from my recent trip to Heswall

First up a return of a old friend a Peerless Brewing, Birkenhead, Lone Ranger, a very tasty US hopped IPA, with Citrus & Simcoe, really moreish and has tones of one of Peerless best ever ales, Peninsula image

My 2nd ale as a interesting taste, it's a Redemption Urban Musk, a trad bitter which I'm guessing is short for traditional (correct me if I'm wrong) it's a darkish bitter with maybe a coffeeish definitely fruity taste, which is orange apparently, didn't get that at
