Show Your Work: PeakD, Hive Keeper, and Momentum Across the Stack

Two posts from PeakD’s @asgarth bookended the reward leaderboard this week — a readable digest of shipped work and a frank security note — while Ecency rolled out Hive Keeper plus mobile and web point releases. Magi pushed its DHF ask, Worldmappin flipped v2 live, and Scrobble.life landed as a fresh build: entertainment history on Hive, with open source on GitHub and a community intro from @acidyo. On-chain power-ups modestly outpaced power-downs. Following last issue’s look at keys and support scams, this week’s chain read is simpler: frontends showing their homework, and momentum in the project layer.

This is HiveToday, a weekly newsletter covering the Hive blockchain ecosystem. If you're new here: Hive is a delegated proof-of-stake chain built for social apps, with feeless and near-instant transactions. It's been live since March 2020.

Editor's Take

Three things stood out. First, reward flow still said “show me what you shipped.” Two PeakD changelog-style posts from @asgarth collected outsized HP and huge vote totals — that’s the community valuing transparency from a flagship frontend. Second, Ecency didn’t just talk roadmap: Hive Keeper landed as a product story, alongside Ecency Mobile 3.5.4 and Ecency Web 4.3.8 — wallet, profile, and discovery getting steady iteration. Third, core stack work matched that energy on GitLab: synchronized beekeepy upgrades across balance_tracker and reputation_tracker, clearer health checks on haf_api_node for sidecar services, and a Hivesense fix so search stays responsive when Ollama hiccups — reliability people can feel on the frontends.

The Story of the Week: PeakD and Ecency Set the Pace

@asgarth’s PeakD updates from the last two weeks led the week’s payouts (~382 HP, 1.3K votes). A companion piece, Security fixes... pretty much everywhere this week, landed fourth (~248 HP). Together they frame a through-line that Hive keeps proving in public: users reward teams that document releases and own incidents.

On the Ecency side, Introducing Hive Keeper became its own centerpiece (~234 HP, 22 comments) — positioned alongside the Mobile 3.5.4 and Web 4.3.8 posts already in ship rhythm. For readers tracking “where Hive UX is headed,” that’s a clean signal: wallet and onboarding craft aren’t side quests; they’re the main quest.

If you read HiveToday #79 — Keepers, Keys, and Fake Support, treat this week as the constructive counterweight: real products posting real updates, in the same stretch that reminder posts about custody still matter.

Development Pulse

GitLab activity on gitlab.syncad.com delivered balance_tracker and reputation_tracker upgrades with aligned beekeepy releases; haf_api_node merged health-check port exposure for Hivesense, indexer, status, and proxy services, plus a pinned OLLAMA default; Hivesense fixed a path where a struggling Ollama backend could hang interactive search and starve autovacuum. That’s operator-visible shipping — tighter deps, clearer operability, and faster recovery when AI-side services wobble.

Ecosystem GitHub: Holozing1/hivescrobble is the open codebase behind Scrobble.life — @acidyo’s PeakD intro frames entertainment-history logging native to Hive.

HiveDevs (hive-139531): @cutehive.com launched Hive Top Holders for whale-scale visibility; @hdev shipped HivePulse v1.5.0 (Hive-Engine assets, node controls); @thecrazygm documented MagnetBank’s Neon monorepo cutover and introduced Go4Hive (Gopher spirit back on-chain); @sagarkothari88 kept the daily cadence on HiveReactKit, hSnaps, hCurators, and adjacent stack; @aftabirshad laid out HivePostify as AI-native posting for users who have never touched mainstream AI tools.

Network Stats

MetricThis Week
HIVE price (CoinGecko)~$0.060
HIVE market cap (supply × spot)~$32.5M
HIVE supply (tokens)~541.1M
CoinGecko rank#652
HBD print rate0 (minting still suppressed)
HIVE powered up (7d)~609,523 HIVE
HIVE powered down (7d)~541,315 HIVE
Net stake change (7d)~+68,208 HIVE

HBD explained: Hive Backed Dollars are Hive’s dollar-pegged token in the reward and savings economy. Protocol settings still care about debt limits relative to the HIVE supply; print rate at zero means the chain is not issuing new HBD via that lever right now — authors see the effect in how rewards behave. For face-value vs trading nuances, wallet dashboards and explorers remain the reader-friendly source — don’t mix up the 20% minting threshold with the 30% haircut story.

Powering up: More HIVE moved into stake than moved out in the last seven days — modest net inflows after a stretch where down-volume sometimes dominated.

Governance

Twenty of the top 21 witnesses report v1.28.3; @deathwing remains on v1.28.0 in this week’s witness snapshot — worth watching only if divergence persists.

Funded DHF lines (above the return proposal) continue to back VSC, retro ecosystem ops, Keychain, open-source expansions, Hive dev proposal #2, Ecency maintenance, Worldmapping 2.0, and Hivewatchers + Spaminator — the treasury layer that makes many of these project beats possible week after week.
