HIVE Hit an All-Time Low and the Community Gathered in a 164-Comment Thread
@igormuba sparked one of the week's biggest threads: 164 comments and a frank debate over stake and tokenomics as HIVE hit an all-time low. C/HiveDevs kept the builder conversation loud — HiveWrite, Pollen, and a full stack of 3Speak merges. @asgarth stacked PeakD posts betting on the agentic web. Net stake flow ran the other way: about 557,000 HIVE powered down versus 481,000 powered up.
This is HiveToday, a weekly recap of the Hive blockchain ecosystem.
New here? Hive uses delegated proof-of-stake. You elect witnesses to produce blocks. You can post, vote, and tip without paying gas on every click. The chain has been live since March 2020.
This Week on Hive
@igormuba opened one of the week's biggest threads: a blunt critique of stake and rewards, a personal buy-and-stake plan, and 164 comments that kept the debate going. The post paid 436 HP with 645 votes. That is not a quiet week on the chain. It is a community argument with receipts.
@curamax added a same-day sentiment post on global hot: My Thoughts About Hive Right Now. @cryptoreforma asked what curation should mean on a chain built for it. The mood matches the numbers: HIVE near $0.050 on CoinGecko, print rate still zero, and a net power-down week.
Builders did not wait for the chart to recover. @asgarth shipped PeakD governance cleanup, signup flow fixes, and stronger analytics (281 HP). A second @asgarth post laid out PeakD's agentic-web bet (261 HP, 26 comments). Embedded post previews landed on HiveDevs the same week.
Several strong posts looked past the daily chart and asked what keeps people on Hive over years, not weeks. @worldmappin published its 2026 transparency and strategy report (295 HP). @schmidi marked six years on-chain — 211 HP and 124 comments on what that stretch meant. @demotruk published a decade of HiveFest data for anyone asking which events actually move the needle.
On-chain, the Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF) still funds six proposals above the return line, led by the HBD Stabilizer at 12,000 HBD per day. HBD print rate remains zero. For how that debt pause works, see issue #75.
Development Pulse
Core work this week split between spam defense on hive.blog, video pipeline hardening, and wallet updates.
hive.blog: hive/denser merged a comment spam filter with a shield toggle, hide-by-default behavior, and server-side observation hooks. Avatar serving now pulls directly from the image host instead of an extra proxy hop. Session and scroll tests tightened in CI.
Core node (hived): hive/hive picked up C++20 warning fixes, block-log checksum validation, and RocksDB log rotation for external storage. Witnesses still run Hard Fork 28 (mostly v1.28.3; @good-karma on v1.28.6). No Hard Fork 29 activation on mainnet.
HAF tooling: Balance tracker and block explorer repos merged fixes for power-down routing and liquid HBD interest tracking. HiveSense fixed a syncer bug that could pin its event queue at zero.
3Speak: The Mantequilla-Soft stack merged scheduled uploads, encoder stall detection, embed health endpoints, and multi-embed support across TV, encoder, and embed repos.
Wax and Keychain: Wax added specialized assertion support. Hive Keychain extension v3.15.7 shipped with EVM notification websockets and onboarding from EVM flows.
HiveDevs feed: @thecrazygm introduced Pollen for JavaScript developers. @seattlea launched Hivelytics 2.0. @dudeontheweb shipped HiveWrite with usability follow-ups. @igormuba opened a protocol pull request to scale DHF payouts when HBD printing stops (prep, not live fork code).
Project Spotlights
Ecency: @ecency shipped a major search upgrade. Hive Keeper v3.17.x release notes cover the mobile wallet path.
Keychain: @keychain tested Ledger with Keychain Multichain. Browser extension v3.15.7 merged on GitHub.
3Speak: @mantequilla-soft report #18 pairs with a heavy GitHub week on scheduled video, RC pre-flight gates, and embed reliability.
HiveSuite / HiveReactKit: @sagarkothari88 kept daily dev updates on wallet UX, emoji support, and game-sharing flows.
HiveWrite / Pollen / Hivelytics: @dudeontheweb usability pass on HiveWrite. @thecrazygm Pollen for JS. @seattlea Hivelytics 2.0 as a Hive Stats replacement candidate.
Hyperion: @inertia brought the curation inbox back in Hyperion.
Liketu: @liketu launched liketu Wild for photo-collection gameplay.
Games: @splinterlands announced Survival Mode stress testing next season and Bloodlines on land. @terracore opened the Mission Board with quests out of beta.
Network Stats
| Metric | This week |
|---|---|
| HIVE price | $0.0502 |
| HIVE market cap | ~$27.6M |
| HBD trading price | ~$0.95 |
| HBD trading market cap | ~$31.2M |
| CoinGecko rank | #673 |
| 24h change (HIVE) | -0.19% |
| HBD print rate | 0 (no new HBD minting) |
| HIVE powered up (7d) | 481,441 HIVE |
| HIVE powered down (7d) | 557,172 HIVE |
| Net stake change | -75,731 HIVE |
HBD explained: HBD is Hive's dollar token. When debt gets too high, the chain stops minting new HBD. Print rate zero means that pause is still on. Trading prices and chain math differ. Full explainer: issue #75.
Powering up: More HIVE unstaked than staked this week. @smartvote led power-ups at about 193,000 HIVE. @offgridlife and @asgharali followed. The net outflow matches the bearish sentiment in the community thread.
Governance
Twenty of the top 21 witnesses run v1.28.3. @good-karma runs v1.28.6; deathwing remains on v1.28.0. The network stays on Hard Fork 28.
