finally got around to making a proper personal site since my old blog was seriously lacking.
why a new site?
wanted to show off that i can actually do frontend design (kinda).
bluesky > twitter
joined bluesky back on 21 october 2024, and hit 50k+ followers since then. i've been building audiences on various platforms since high school, usually reaching 100k+ on most platforms. twitter was weird though - stuck around 5k on my main and 10k on my backup, but somehow getting more views than accounts with 100k followers. bluesky is much nicer than twitter overall - fewer bots and better conversations.
what i'm building
currently working on akari.blue, a bluesky client. the exciting part is i'm migrating from a react site to an expo app so it'll be native and work everywhere, not just web.
i also recently created an alt text reminder bot that replies to any of my posts where users reply with images that don't have alt text. i'm a big accessibility advocate and planning to write more blog posts about the lack of subtitles in ads, incorrect subs, how we can do better with alt text, how to write alt text and the usefulness of it.
australia to london
big life update: moved from australia to london at the end of january 2025 after living in australia my whole life. it's been a good change so far.
i'll update this blog whenever i feel like it - no pressure, no schedules.
