Well this is a subject I never even used to give much thought about never mind write about but the circumstances changed for the worse and its become front and centre in my life despite being a real ale drinker.
Last year sadly my dad fell ill and as a result at the moment can't really have alcohol so step forward my sister and brother-in-law, with alcohol free Guinness and wine!
Now I have never had alcohol free drinks before but thought I would give the Guinness a try and I was shocked as it tastes so like the real thing and is hard to tell the difference. First time I had a couple of cans my mind was waiting to feek drunk, it was weird!
Fast forward a few months and despite being a cask drinker and maligning Gunniess, I drink the zero version regulary even have some right now as write this blog one of my local pubs. I have also tried non alcohol IPA & pale ale, Proper Job & Shipyard low tide respectively and enjoyed both, mad as sounds to me!
The best part of alcohol free is being able to get out of the house when I dont feel like real ale but can still out go to and a support pubs which in-turn is so good for my mental health morse with my current circumstances.
Alcohol free Guinness really seems to taking off and although as far as I know only one British pub has it on tap, plenty have it in cans in the fridge and I have no doubt if things carry on, lots more pubs will put it in tap!
