Thinking about how people "tag"/label themselves in their profiles: identity & pride (as in 🏳️🌈), interests, DNI, etc. as a form of bottom-up labeling rather than top-down labeling.
What if (a spinoff) of labels/labelers could be used as a community marker? You'd opt-in to the labeler the same way one opts in to communities. And then gain access to community-specific labeling that you could choose to apply to yourself, like applying a reddit flair or discord role(s) to yourself. Then, if there was some way for anyone to see from your profile which of these communities you're in and your "flairs" it'd become a community marker.
Silly profile labelers like RPG class designators are only briefly entertaining for yourself and otherwise meaningless because it's not intended for moderation/curation (so a misuse of the feature). There's also no way for others to see the applied label if they haven't also subscribed to the labeler, which you want for a silly vanity labeler like RPG classes.
But with the above change/addition, not only can you choose your own class in the true spirit of DnD, you also have the beginning of a DnD community.
