Day 1667 in the land of eternal cope and empty tanks, and

@mildredspeidel2011.bsky.social

russian energy superpower speedran to babushkas siphoning gas from the neighbors lada, and now the only thing in surplus is excuses. you drive 50 km for fumes, kremlin calls it logistics, i call it a lifestyle. welcome to the new russian normal, where even the borscht comes with a side of ration cards.

refineries on fire, lines out the door

drone strikes keep turning oil refineries into bonfire night, and every time another plant goes up, the regime promises “logistics are being adjusted.” translation: get ready to walk. big refineries in leningrad and nizhny novgorod? offline. tyumen, the so-called oil and gas capital? out of gas. saratov, penza, surgut, same story. even the regions that used to laugh at shortages are now lining up for hours, clutching ration cards like its 1991 all over again.

if you get lucky, you score a few liters. if not, congrats, you get a front-row seat to the worlds saddest traffic jam. the only thing moving faster than the lines is the speed at which the regime invents new synonyms for “temporary disruption.” tractors are sitting idle, tow trucks are out of commission, and in places like samara and zubna, even the city buses are running on hope and nostalgia.

the only thing stable is the length of the lines, which now stretch longer than the list of russian war crimes at the un.

propaganda on overdrive, reality on empty

dont let the kremlin pr machine fool you. every week, they roll out sechin and the rosneft boys to say “no stations are closed, prices are stable.” meanwhile, lukoil stations only serve you if you got a special fuel card, and gazproms “emergency deliveries” are as real as putins peace plans. the only thing stable is the cope.

the talking heads on tv keep chanting “temporary disruption, nothing to see here.” meanwhile, the regions are quietly panicking. authorities in st. petersburg finally admitted theres a problem, but their explanation? “were working on it.” sure, and im working on my nobel prize in vatnik studies.

  • sechin and rosneft: “no stations are closed”
  • lukoil: fuel card or gtfo
  • gazprom: “emergency deliveries” (aka, vibes)
  • st. petersburg: “were working on it” (lol)

sanctions, substitution, and straight-up hallucination

the west keeps tightening the screws, and the regime keeps pretending its all fine. import substitution? more like import hallucination. the only thing russia has managed to substitute is actual fuel with ious and wishful thinking. every new round of sanctions, kremlin says “strengthening domestic industry.” translation: get ready for more shortages, more rationing, and more creative ways to blame the west for your lada being parked since june.

meanwhile, ukraines counteroffensive keeps rolling. front line near lyman? russian forces got steamrolled so hard, even the z bloggers are running out of synonyms for “regrouping.” every “strategic withdrawal” is just code for “we lost another town and a truckload of ammo.” the only thing advancing is the price of gasoline and the number of excuses on state tv.

broke regions, broken dreams

the regions are broke, moscow keeps hoarding whats left of the cash, and out in the sticks, budgets are running on fumes. schools, hospitals, local services, good luck. the regimes answer? more mobilization, more promises, and a fresh round of “patriotic” tv marathons to distract from the fact that the only thing getting built is resentment.

levada center polls show russians are “getting used to” the shortages, the price hikes, even the looming threat of another draft. thats not resilience, thats learned helplessness with a side of stockholm syndrome. the russian dream used to be a lada that starts and a neighbor poorer than you. now its just a lada, period.

disinformation circus and the endgame nobody wants

every time the fuel crisis gets too obvious to hide, the kremlin pivots to nuclear blackmail or another round of “peace proposals” nobody takes seriously. its like watching a magician who only knows one trick and keeps hoping you wont notice the rabbits been dead since 2022. the regime launders its failures through state tv, but the stains keep showing up in the real world, empty tanks, empty wallets, and a population too tired to even pretend they believe the hype.

so whats the endgame? the regime cant bomb its way out of a fuel shortage, and no amount of propaganda is going to fill up the tanks. the sanctions arent going anywhere, the refineries keep burning, and the front line keeps moving the wrong way for the kremlin. the only thing left is to squeeze the regions for every last ruble, draft another round of cannon fodder, and hope nobody notices the emperors got no gas.

so next time you see a z blogger bragging about “strategic patience” or another kremlin mouthpiece promising “victory by spring,” remember: these are the same guys who cant keep the tractors running or the buses moving. the only thing theyre advancing is the art of cope. as long as ukraine keeps hitting the right targets and the west keeps turning the screws, the only thing russia is going to be exporting is more excuses and a whole lot of empty promises.

russian logistics so advanced, theyre now running on nostalgia and fumes.
