Hello Bluesky and other Atproto Users. I've been on the site/network for about over a year now with mixed sucess. I figured it's been long enough that it is a good time to learn about a bit about me. Y'know for fun.

I wanted to try WhiteWind instead of Rambles Well Written as a further proof of concept to the use of other ATproto apps. I also might be using this app for longer form posts that may or may not be suited for the Write As blog, but are far too wordy for a Bluesky thread that people will get lost in.

With out further ado lets highlight some key things about me:

Canadian

First the thing I'm the most obnxiously loud about I'm a Canadian and a wear that with some amount of pride. A lot of the time I poke fun at it with some good ole ribbing, and don't take it all that seriously. Often to a steretypical degree, I like my maple syrup, cheese curds and butter tarts like any Canadian But, I was born here, as a Canadian, and as sure as hell I'm going to die as one. Hopefully in my senior years.

I say this with full acknowledgement that Canada is far forma perfect country, wether you want to look at its history or even in modern times. I also acknoweldge that my experience not the same of many Canadians, and those who have lived on the long before it was called Canada. However, I do feel that a person has a deep connection to where they were born and where they live. Even with its faults, I am proad to be a Canadian and glad that I get to live in such a wonderful country with a rich history. Though it is annoying this makes seeing my online friends, way harder than it should be.

With all that being said, we must both acknowledge the good, the bad and ugly, and try to make the best foot forward to making the country a better place.

Wannabe Comedian

This may not come across in alot of my bluesky posting as I've reblogged a lot of politics, and world seeming to be more and more a characture of a cartoon than real. But I do try to be funny. My go tos are usually sarcasm, playing up being both smart yet dumb, Trying and failing to be high brow, and general absurdism.

Comedy is probably one of my favoriate things in this world, and try to spread ti where I can. Ask any of my friends and know that I frequently try ot make them laugh with mixed results. But the important thing is that I try. Though while content wise I've leaned more into education, or showing off a neat thing I've learned, Comedy is what helps me from not going insane, and some what grounded.

I can't be this wound up all the time, I need to be a little loose from time to time. Make of the sentence what you will.

Tech Enthusist

As a surprise to no one, I like Tech. I like it a lot. So much so that I am largely a tech optomist even in the face of Big Tech, AI, and Governments seeming to want to harm what good the internet can offer. Ever since I was a young child I loved going on the computer, my game consoles. Some of this was for gaming, but I also much loved Windows Movie Maker messing around in MS Paint to make little videos now lost to time.

Evenually I got into some soft modding consoles, Rom Hacks, and mods for Sims 2 and Fan patches to get old games working and grew and appreication to the dedication of people who put time and energy into projects that enriched my life with little return (though totally should be supported where possible). Such passion and creativity, and techincal know how is what truely inspires me, and why I tend to want to promote cool new things like Bluesky, and ActivityPub (Mastodon) or even some older tech like RSS.

I have been known as the "tech guy" amoung my friend group, but it's more that I acquired knowledge of computer specs, and learned how to operate software. Still I know that my knowledge is valuable, and do like feeling appreicated for when my knoweldge could be helpful.

The Old Web

One fasicnation that I have is with the concept of the "Old Web" or that is to say the old web I remember from the years of 2003-2014ish. It was place of much more customization, and expression than I see now. Not that people arent still creative, but there used to be a time where you could customize your youtube page much more drastically as an example before things became more uniform. There also felt like there were more places to virtually go than the 4ish apps we have now. Even outside of the apps if you do want to go to a site, you'll often find that sites are more Minimalist and stirile than those in the past. I don't know if we can ever go back to that fully but I kow before I'm in the dirt I want to make neocities site atleast.

I miss when websties where another form of artistic self-expression of person. A form of digital paper. The ultimate mixmedia project. A mural of ones hobbies, interests, and personalities. I also really just miss when Ui was more creative than the mimimal designs we have now. Like not every game, website or software needs to have quirky theme, BUT GIVE ME SOME GOD DAMN PERSONALITY!

Gaming Enthusist

Something might come apparent when you see the youtube channel or any of my videos. I've been gaming since I was 5-6 with memories of Pokemon Crystal on gamerboy color, Sumper mario and duck hunt on NES and a Six Pak on Sega Genesis. And I was born in the mid-90s so I bring slightly unqiue prospective I would like to think. Eventually, most of my time gaming was focused on the PS2 and Wii in the mid 2000s which I think partcially shaped my appreciation for Y2K and Frutiger Aero designs.

I picked the term "Gaming Enthusist" because the tarm "Gamer" has become, Frankly, embarassing for me to use. Mostly due to grifters using the term to spread their heinious ideology and those who never grew out of their CoD Lobby Phase as a teenager.

But I still enjoy gaming. I enjoy gaming with my friends. I enjoy many retro titles (The PS3 is legally able to drink in Ontario this november, HELP ME) or the indie titles of now that do sometyhing interesting, or tickles the niche brain worms that I like.

Wannabe Youtuber

I know I've been slow on content this year but I am trying slowly to be come a youtuber. I've always wanted to create my own video for those to enjoy. Whether that be Yotube Poops, Garry's Mod Animations, or my current stint of... I guess being a funny explainer guy? Idk what you would call me right now.

My Job working me on 12 hour shifts have made this hard due to how much I just want to sleep when I'm off, but I know this is one of thos ethings that if I don't make the effort to do it, it'll never get done, and some people wouldn't make some of the videos I wanted out in the world.

We'll see where this journey takes use, but for now I just want to have fun yelling about tech, and games, and some times canadian politics at you guys

Novice Mixologist

So I gotten into mixing drinks. Sometimes I've posted what I've been making on bluesky. I wanted to have a hobby outside of gaming and video production to make me a bit more of a rounded person. Plus I want to be fun at parties with friends... if I ever get invited... Or we actually decide on what we're going to do! And of course, if they wish. I want to try to avoid pressuring those who have swore off alcohol or are Straight Edge.

I'm still new to mixology but so far my attempts at Bahama Mamas, Long Island Iced Teas and margiritas have gone swimmingly

The Obnoxious Internest in Politics

Finally, and some of you might know this, I have an obnoxious interest in politics. I'll get into to the wider trains of thought I have on politics another time (It actually what inspired me doing this post first), but I mostly just yap about Electoral Reform as my hyperfixation. You might have also noticed that I tend to reblog alot of the progressive posts. If you're reading this and that bothers you... I'm sorry it will happen again. :)

I also used to fight with some users on Bluesky but frankly, I've grown to realize that isn't really helping anyone, and was making myself misible. So, I've moved on to just blocking, it's not worth my time and energy.
