Dog Years DAO: Exploring Onchain Models for Canine Longevity Research

@nolia160.bsky.social

Dog Years DAO is an early DeSci initiative experimenting with how onchain coordination can support real world research into canine healthspan and longevity.

The project is currently advancing its Follistatin research track on Bio Protocol, focusing on the potential of follistatin based interventions to help aging dogs maintain muscle mass, mobility, and overall quality of life. Follistatin is a well studied protein involved in muscle growth regulation, making it a compelling area of exploration for age-related decline in dogs.

Rather than approaching this purely as a biotech effort, Dog Years DAO is testing new crypto-native research primitives, including:

IP based structures to formalize and represent research outputs

DAO style coordination to fund, govern, and iterate on experiments

Long term contributor alignment over short-term capital extraction

Alongside the research effort, the community is running an open awareness campaign to attract dog lovers, builders, and bio curious contributors who want to participate in shaping decentralized funding models for longevity science.

Dog Years DAO reflects a broader shift within DeSci: moving beyond financial experiments toward onchain systems that coordinate care, research, and long-term impact.
