Let’s talk about Russia’s air force, or what’s left of it after

@oimsqexk.bsky.social

russian air force these days is just a frequent flyer program for excuses. two years in, theyre still sending jets up like its a soviet parade and acting shocked when they come down in flaming chunks. only thing soaring over russia is the cope.

the myth of the second army

russia rolled into ukraine thinking it would be a quick smash and grab, drop a few bombs, selfie in front of a government building, home by dinner. instead, they got a masterclass in how to lose an air campaign. the "second army of the world" cant even keep their planes in the sky, let alone own it.

every week, another su-34 or su-35 gets smoked by a ukrainian missile. kremlin cant shoot down anything but their own narrative. even russian billionaires are going on youtube saying putins lost the plot. when the guys funding your regime start calling you nuts, you know the vibes are off.

russian air force is out here playing whack-a-mole with ukrainian air defenses and losing. they bomb kyiv for four days, switch to drones when the missiles run out, still cant get it done. its like watching a guy try to break into a bank by throwing rocks at bulletproof glass, then bragging about the scratches.

numbers, excuses, and industrial-scale cope

lets talk numbers, because the only thing russia racks up faster than losses is propaganda. every time a jet gets clipped, the story is "technical malfunction" or "pilot error." sure, the pilot just accidentally flew into a patriot missile. happens to the best of us.

ukrainian social media lights up with burning wreckage, z bloggers start the cope parade:

  • "it was an old plane anyway"
  • "we have plenty more"
  • "its all part of the plan"

yeah, the plan to run out of planes before you run out of pilots. the only thing more reliable than russian excuses is the body count.

sanctions hit, and suddenly russia is building jets with more chinese knockoff parts than a wish.com drone. avionics are so outdated, pilots are flying blind half the time. maintenance? good luck. best mechanics are dead, drunk, or working in dubai. spare parts get smuggled in like cuban cigars. the only thing "modern" about the air force is the creative accounting.

why they keep losing planes

its not just "nato weapons" or bad luck. its arrogance, incompetence, and pure delusion. kremlin still thinks its fighting chechnya or syria, where you bomb civilians and call it a day. ukraine actually shoots back, and theyre getting better every month.

western air defense, homegrown frankenSAMs, even old soviet gear with a new paint job - all adding up to a no-fly zone for russian jets. the only thing more dangerous than flying over ukraine in a russian plane is being the guy who has to explain the losses to shoigu.

russian tactics? dont make me laugh. they try to overwhelm kyiv with missile and drone spam, hoping something gets through. when missiles run low, they switch to drones, spamming them like its a call of duty killstreak. drones are using belarusian sim cards because apparently the mighty russian military-industrial complex cant make a drone that works without piggybacking off lukashenkos cell towers. even when belarus tries to cut them off, the drones still get signal. peak innovation.

propaganda, pilots, and the disappearing air force

every time a russian plane goes down, the propaganda machine kicks in. state tv says its all under control, z bloggers post blurry cockpit photos and claim "the west is panicking," ministry of defense releases a statement so vague youd think they were describing a weather balloon.

but receipts keep piling up. satellite images, crash site videos, intercepted comms - you cant hide a burning jet in a field, no matter how many telegram channels you spam.

the pilots? getting sent up in flying coffins, told to bomb targets they cant see, dodging missiles with gear older than their dads. best ones are dead, captured, or "accidentally" landing in kazakhstan. the rest? cannon fodder with wings. every time one gets shot down, the regime blames "pilot error" and moves on. no medals, no funerals, just another name off the payroll.

the real kicker: russia spins every loss as a win. lose a jet? "it was a decoy." lose a pilot? "hes on vacation." lose a squadron? "we never needed them anyway." its cope on an industrial scale.

the only thing left in the sky over russia is the smell of burning jet fuel and the sound of excuses.

economics, brain drain, and the stealthy price tag

every lost plane is millions down the drain, and russia aint rolling in cash. sanctions bite, oil money dries up, defense budget gets squeezed harder than a conscripts rations. building new jets? good luck when half your suppliers are sanctioned and the other half are selling you parts at triple the price.

black market is booming, but you cant build an air force out of alibaba orders and wishful thinking. brain drain is real. best engineers and techs have either left or are too busy coding crypto in georgia to care about fixing migs. the ones left are working with rust, duct tape, and a prayer.

every "advanced" russian jet is just an old airframe with a fresh paint job and a new name. the only thing stealthy about it is how the regime hides the price tag.

war crimes, doublethink, and the crash of the century

every time russia bombs a civilian target, they claim it was a "military facility" or "nato mercenaries." but when their planes get shot down, suddenly its "technical issues" and "bad weather." the doublethink is olympic level.

regime wants to look strong, but all theyre showing is how weak and desperate they are. air force was supposed to be the pride of the military, now its just another punchline. the only thing theyre dominating is the crash statistics.

every new loss is another reminder that the "second army of the world" is just a marketing slogan scribbled on a vodka-stained napkin. regime can spin, deflect, distract all they want, but the receipts dont lie. planes down, pilots lost, money burned, nothing to show for it but more propaganda and more funerals.

the endless loop of cope

every time russia loses another jet, the z bloggers and vatniks come out with the same tired lines:

  • "its all part of the plan"
  • "were saving our best for later"
  • "the west is running out of missiles"

meanwhile, ukraine keeps shooting, the west keeps supplying, and russia keeps losing. at some point, youd think theyd get tired of larping as a superpower and start asking why their air force is getting clapped by a country they said would fold in three days.

but nah, that would require self-awareness, and you cant import that from china.

so here we are. russia keeps losing more war planes, and the only thing flying higher than the body count is the propaganda. regime cant admit the truth, air force cant win the war, and the only thing left to do is point at the clowns and laugh. because the only thing russias air force is good at is making headlines, for all the wrong reasons.

and if youre wondering what the kremlins plan is now, dont bother. there is no plan. just more pilots getting fed into the meat grinder, more jets getting turned into lawn ornaments, and more excuses getting recycled on state tv. the only thing russias air force is winning is the race to the bottom.

so next time you see a russian jet go down, just remember: its not a bug, its a feature. the regime built this mess, now they get to watch it burn. and ill be here, collecting the cope, posting the receipts, and roasting the circus till the last plane falls out of the sky.

russian air force: now boarding for the crash landing of the century.
