Why am I here?
After having looked around for alternatives to the big centralized platforms, I find myself enamoured with ATproto and what it promises.
Most of all, I very much enjoy how it clearly separates a number of ... shall we call them "parts"? ... which other protocols seems to conflate in different manners:
- Identity
- Identity document (what that identity leads t and where it's served, ...)
- Name(s)
- Personal data
- Views of data (the apps)
Small concern
I'm a little concerned still about the very centralized PLC directory, but what I hear on the grapevine is that this should open up, so maybe not a big worry?
I've just started my discovery
... so I'm pretty sure I'll write more on the subject
