Guilded is shutting down.

Yes, the platform RoConnect has served for well over a year and a half at this point. Roblox has announced that it'll be shutting down Guilded at the end of this year, 2025. This leaves RoConnect in a very awkward position, as the most significant update, internally known as the V1.0 update, was set to be released later this year. There are really only two options to this: go out with Guilded at the end of 2025, or begin porting the bot to another chat platform, such as Stoat (previously known as Revolt) or Discord.

Before getting to that, I wanna just say that developing RoConnect has been fun over the past year and a half, and learning how helpful it's been for communities on Guilded has been nice. Guilded itself had potential, and, unfortunately, Roblox has decided to go the route they're going. While this doesn't come as a huge surprise, it is sad nonetheless. I want to thank all those who have used RoConnect before and all the servers for choosing RoConnect as their bot to connect their communities. I want to thank all the community members who took the time to report any bugs they found and were patient with me while I fixed them as soon as possible. I want to thank all those who have contributed to RoConnect, including BrunchLovesFood, YumYummity, NotIsa, and NotAussie, and anybody else I might've forgotten 😅

Even though Guilded has had its ups and downs for the past few years, I still stuck by them and knew I'd be here til the end. That end is here for Guilded. It'll be sad to see it go, but the memories will be there forever, and I hope we all gained a friend or two from this platform and can continue those friendships elsewhere.

What about RoConnect's Future?

Ever since I started developing RoConnect in August 2023, I knew I wanted to make it multi-platform and, at the very least, set up a foundation for that. I wanted to bring Roblox communities together anywhere, regardless of the platform. Life has severely gotten in the way of this, and has pushed an update I wanted to release a long time ago along for a long ride. It would've been nice to see RoConnect Builder's Club come to life, even if the name was a bit long 😆

I think every journey must come to an end, and while this may seem abrupt, I think RoConnect's going to go into the sunset alongside Guilded at the end of this year. I want to thank all 7,400+ of you who have used RoConnect across the 400+ servers where it has been added.

I've considered porting the bot, but I think it'd be better for me to move on to another project at this point. RoConnect will be shutting down on October 31st.
