The SBS operation “Crimean Switch Off” just posted its September numbers, and the scale is worth sitting with for a second: 374 energy nodes hit in two months, a systematic dismantling of the infrastructure moscovia uses to administer occupied territory, run military logistics, and pretend Crimea is a normal Russian region.
The September Numbers
Thirty-four energy nodes were hit in the first week of September alone, across Crimea, the occupied South, and the occupied East. Targets included substations, traction substations, gas distribution stations, and the Luhansk TPP.
There were repeated strikes on Henicheska and Mykhailivska because the first hit was not enough and the repair crews needed a reminder that their work is being watched. The two-month total is 374 energy nodes.
Every traction substation hit means rail movement slows. Every gas distribution station hit means heating and industrial pressure drop. Every 330 kV substation hit means the grid has to reroute around damage it cannot fully repair under drone observation.
Who Is Doing the Striking
What makes this different from the usual strike reporting is the attribution. Ukrainian forces struck, and the SBS is naming the units: 414th “Birds of Madiar,” 412th “Nemesis,” 20th “K-2,” 413th “Raid,” 427th “Raroh,” Phoenix border guard, the 1st separate SBS center.
These are the units that built the drone strike doctrine from scratch. They started with FPVs as an improvised weapon and turned them into a strategic tool for degrading occupied infrastructure.
Attrition looks like one side having a working drone industry while the other tries to guard substations with riflemen and prayer.
The Moscovian Response
The moscovian response will be predictable. They will call it terrorism, as if occupying someone else’s power grid and using it to sustain an invasion is a legitimate civilian activity.
They will claim air defenses intercepted most of the drones, while the video shows smoke columns rising from targets that were clearly not intercepted. They will promise restoration within days, and then the repair brigades will get hit again because the SBS has already shown it can strike the same node twice.
The Strategic Objective
The operation aims to achieve a real, practical objective in Crimea:
- Making occupation expensive
- Making military logistics unreliable
- Forcing moscovia to spend air defense assets protecting transformers instead of command posts
That trade is a losing one for them, and the SBS knows it.
The online counter exists for a reason. Every number is a claim that can be checked against satellite imagery, local reports, and moscovian emergency service leaks. So far the trend holds. The pace is not slowing.
And the units doing the work are the same ones that built the targeting data, the relay networks, and the strike packages over years, the ones that make a 150 kV substation in occupied Zaporizhzhia as vulnerable as a trench line. Moscovia will lie about the damage. The grid will still fail. The whole point is that.
