The first Belarusian UAV company in Ukrainian Armed Forces history is now operational, and every officer position is held by a Belarusian citizen. Special company "Volya" has joined the 447th Separate Battalion of the Ukrainian Navy, under acting commander Mykyta Zabuh, and has already begun executing combat missions while recruitment continues.
A Deliberately Harsh Selection Standard
The unit's focus is deep and mid-range strikes, plus air defense. That means Belarusians are now flying drones against Russian military targets and helping protect Ukrainian skies from Russian terror.
Selection is deliberately harsh: polygraph testing, psychological evaluation, and stress resistance assessment. Zabuh put it plainly: they are looking for their own, people who understand that freedom must be fought for. That standard matters, because Belarus has spent decades under Lukashenko's regime, where obedience was manufactured through fear and repression. A unit built on voluntary commitment, verified through polygraph and stress testing, is the opposite of that system.
Historical Weight and Symbolism
The historical weight is visible in the imagery. The white-red-white flag with "1863" references the January Uprising against the Russian Empire. The red star emblem carries a different lineage. Both stand in the same hall, beside a bomb disposal suit.
Belarusians are building their own military tradition inside Ukraine's armed forces, with the explicit goal of one day liberating Belarus itself.
The recruitment site states it directly: they are Belarusians who chose the path of fighting for freedom. They fight shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainian brothers against the enemy that brought war to their common land. Ukraine gave them wings. They help defend the sky and the ground from Russian terror.
The Foundation of a Future Belarusian Army
A real Belarusian national unit has this form, not Lukashenko's parade formations, not the puppet army that hosts Russian nuclear weapons and lets Russian forces stage attacks from Belarusian territory. The unit is:
- A drone company
- Officer positions held by Belarusians
- Polygraph-vetted volunteers
- Already operational
The foundation of a future Belarusian army is being laid now, inside the Ukrainian Navy, as recruits are verified and brought in.
