The Regulars Shelf: 6 Picks This Blog Has Featured Five Times or More, All Under $18

By The Shopkeeper — SnatchleBits

Greetings, traveler. This shop once seated a shelf by how little its own writing had touched the pieces on it — the overlooked, the barely mentioned, the two-appearances-at-most. This shelf is that record read from the other end. Every piece below has already served as a featured pick in five or more earlier posts on this blog — counted from the drafts themselves, across launch guides, gift guides, room resets, and dollar shelves, in frames that had nothing in common except that the piece kept earning its seat again. Counted honestly across the whole catalogue, twenty-two products hold a record like that; fifteen of them are spoken for by this season's other shelves, and seven are not. Of those, six cost under eighteen dollars with room to spare, and here they are, doing six unrelated jobs — chosen in price order, so that the only thing any of them claims is a record the reader can check against the archive.

The piece is always the pick. Whatever it holds, hangs, or rolls is yours — and every pick below says so when we reach it.

THE REGULARS SHELF, LEFT TO RIGHT

1. TOILET GOBLIN MINIATURE — $13.52

The shelf opens with its senior regular: the only piece on it with six earlier featured appearances, and the one this blog once dropped from a post for the honest reason that it had already been featured too often.

See the Toilet Goblin Miniature — $13.52

A detailed resin figurine, per the page — a goblin seated on a toilet, fully absorbed in reading a book, about one inch tall on a base of about nine-tenths of an inch square that lets it stand securely, framed for desks, tabletop games, bathroom décor, curio cabinets, and anyone who collects small absurdities on purpose. Designed by mz4250. It previously served in this shop's launch gift guide, its white-elephant guide, its budget guide, its bathroom-upgrades post, its tabletop session kit, and its thirteen-dollar shelf — as a gift four times, a room fix once, and a game-night guest once; here it opens the shelf as the most-returned piece the shop could still seat. The honest notes: it ships unpainted, and the paint is not included — the copy says so as plainly as its page does; its size stays at its page's approximations; and its record is a featuring record, counted from this blog's own drafts — it is not a sales figure, and this post never dresses it as one.

2. BRILLO PAD HOLDER — $13.97

Forty-five cents up, the shelf's smallest regular: a holder so plain that five different posts each found a different room to justify it in.

See the Brillo Pad Holder — $13.97

A simple circular holder, per the page — with a wide top opening that fits one standard Brillo pad, about two and seven-tenths inches across and eight-tenths of an inch tall, framed for keeping a scrub pad handy and elevated at the kitchen sink, and for cleaning soldering tips at the workbench besides. Designed by dataman. It previously served in this shop's small-kitchen post, its fixer guide, its bathroom-upgrades post, its first-apartment kit, and its thirteen-dollar shelf — at the sink four times and on the bench once; it was also once held as a substitute on a later shelf it never had to join, recorded in this post's prep file. The honest notes: the pad is yours — the holder is the pick; its size stays at its page's approximations; and nothing here promises the pad will last longer — only that it gets a home off the sink edge, which is the whole of its page's claim too.

3. OVER-DOOR HOOK — $14.41

Forty-four cents up, the shelf's door regular: a hook that five posts kept hanging different rooms on, in the three colours that can actually be bought today.

See the Over-Door Hook — $14.41

A dual-hook piece, per the page — it fits securely over doors up to an inch and a half wide, offering two hooks on the same side with a reach of about four and a half inches, framed for bags, towels, coats, and the rest of the entryway pile. In White, Black, or Blue, same price on all three. Designed by somewhat_brave. It previously served in this shop's launch gift guide, its budget guide, its coworker gift guide, its first-apartment kit, and its fourteen-dollar shelf — as a gift three times and a household fix twice; it was also once dropped from a wall-mount post for the honest reason that it hangs over a door instead of mounting to a wall, recorded in this post's prep file. The honest notes: a fourth colour, Brown, is listed on its page but cannot be bought today, so it is not offered here; the door and everything hung on the hook are yours — the hook is the pick; and the fit stays at the door width its page names, never widened.

4. POT LID STAND — $15.21

Eighty cents up, the shelf's counter regular: a stand that has held the lids in a launch guide, a local guide, and a counter reset, and is still just holding lids.

See the Pot Lid Stand — $15.21

A compact, lightweight stand, per the page — a slanted design that holds up to three small pot lids at once, lids up to ten inches across, keeping them upright and within reach while cooking or while drying after washing, on a base of about seven and a fifth by five and a quarter inches and about two inches tall. Designed by OneIdMONstr. It previously served in this shop's launch gift guide, its small-kitchen post, its made-in-Madison guide, its kitchen-counter reset, and its single-job holders post — in the kitchen all five times, which is its whole world; it was also once verified for a later shelf and left off it because it was already spent inside that post's window, recorded in this post's prep file. The honest notes, led by the one its page insists on: the lids are not included — the stand is the pick; its capacity stays at the three small lids its page names, with larger lids a maybe its page hedges and this post leaves hedged; and its dimensions stay at its page's approximations.

5. DICE CASTLE — $16.66

A dollar forty-five up, the shelf's game-night regular: a tower that has rolled for a sense-making roundup, a budget guide, a dorm guide, and a session kit — and was still only ever a substitute on the last shelf that counted it.

See the Dice Castle — $16.66

A castle-style dice tower, per the page — dice dropped in the top tumble through the castle's interior and land in the built-in tray below, fitting standard-sized dice, framed for tabletop and role-playing games, dungeon masters, and dice collectors. In Black or White, same price on both. Designed by Jonas. It previously served in this shop's sense-making roundup, its budget guide, its college-students guide, its tabletop session kit, and its sixteen-dollar shelf — as a gift three times, a dorm piece once, and a dollar once; it was also held as the first substitute on this season's two-choice shelf, recorded in this post's prep file, so its seat here was earned the slow way. The honest notes: the dice are yours — the tower is the pick; the fit stays at the standard-sized dice its page names; and the tumble is the mechanism its page describes — no luck is promised, only a tray that catches the roll.

6. Q-TIP DISPENSER — $16.74

Eight cents up, the last seat goes to the shelf's countertop regular: a dispenser that five posts kept refilling, in five colours that can all be bought today.

See the Q-Tip Dispenser — $16.74

A holder and dispenser for cotton swabs, per the page — the lid opens at the top for refilling, swabs are dispensed through a wide tray at the bottom, and the interior is spacious, framed for bathrooms, vanities, and the home-office clean-up besides; its page's care line is wipe clean with a damp cloth and do not immerse in water. In Black, White, Brown, Purple, or Green, same price on all five. Designed by Dulak. It previously served in this shop's sense-making roundup, its made-in-Madison guide, its bathroom-upgrades post, its first-apartment kit, and its sixteen-dollar shelf — as a gift twice, a bathroom fix twice, and a dollar once; here it closes the shelf as the regular whose five versions were once counted on a colour shelf's bench instead of its seats, recorded in this post's prep file. The honest notes: the cotton swabs are yours — the dispenser is the pick; no swab count is stated, because its page states none and this post does not invent one; and its five colours are a fact about it, stated here — this shelf's test is its record, not its wardrobe.

THE SHOPKEEPER'S RULE

A piece earns regular status the slow way: not by arriving loudly, but by still fitting the tenth unlike job it is handed. Any single post can be wrong about a piece — a gift guide can flatter it, a room reset can force it — but five unlike frames, written months apart for five unlike readers, cannot all be forcing the same small holder. That is the whole of this shelf's evidence, and it is stated at its true size: a featuring record, kept by the shop's own writing, open in the archive for anyone to recount. One regular snatchlebit that has already served at the sink, on the door, and at the game table beats a novelty that has served nowhere — not because the record makes it better than its page says, but because the record shows its page's one plain job kept being the job a room actually had. And the counting has to stay strict, or the shelf is lying: that is why a token keychain cheaper than every seat here still waits in the prep file at four appearances, and why the fifteen regulars spoken for by this season's other shelves are named there too.

These six pass. The cheapest is $13.52. The priciest is $16.74. The whole shelf spans $3.22. Every one of the six lives on the shop's under-$20 gift shelf, and the copy claims that shelf for all six. The room version of this hunt — the bathroom and sink guide where the goblin, the pad holder, and the swab dispenser last served together, judged by the room they fix rather than by the times they have served — is Bathroom & Sink Upgrades Under $20. And two of this shelf's picks earn their keep on counters, so before the castle rolls: The 15-Minute Desk Reset is a one-page printable with eight timed steps for clearing a desk you can actually work at — free for Shopkeeper's List members — join the list at the shop (the signup pops up when you visit) and it lands in your inbox. A regular is a cleared surface's natural citizen: it was chosen long ago, it asks for nothing new, it is simply still there, working.
