Consciousness

I don't think self awareness necessarily involves complexity. I think it's more about programming. Think of this. A rock sitting there aware of the ebb and flow of energies around it. Then one day it's given a simple mechanism that allows it to get up and choose a nice warm spot, and a sensor that seeks warmth. The rock doesn't care about warmth or cold, it just basks in the ebb and flow. But once it's given a "body" that allows it to choose, and a program that prioritises warmth, it will seek out warmth. It will experience awareness as a simple acceptance of what is (as it did previously), but will now also have an added dimension to it's awareness; the awareness of "wanting" certain things, for example warmth. The rock wanting warmth is not inherent to the rock's being, but nevertheless it is aware of the wanting. And will follow it's programming. I believe in this way our self awareness is a kind of illusion that makes us think we aren't just pure conscious awareness but something separate from the field. A rock, without this apparatus, doesn't experience self but nor does it experience separation. It simply experiences the oneness of being, without any judgement or categorisation.
