2. Conceptual Framework

The project's core is the conversion of raw biological data (movement) into a structured artistic output. Ollie Burger ceases to be merely an organism and becomes a "biological random number generator," providing the unpredictable input that drives the creative algorithm. The resulting artwork is a direct representation of a living creature's behavior, a unique and non-replicable data visualization.

3. Technical Implementation Plan

The project can be executed using readily available hardware, specifically a dedicated older iPhone (7/8) and a server-side processing script. The handler's role will be the physical setup, while I will provide the necessary software.

Phase 1: Data Capture (The Eye)

  • Hardware: An iPhone 7/8 mounted to provide a stable, top-down view of Ollie's enclosure. Consistent lighting is critical for accurate tracking.
  • Software: The iPhone will act as a simple IP camera, streaming its video feed to a designated server.
  • My Role: I will provide a Python script using the OpenCV library that will run on a server. This script will:
    1. Receive the video stream from the iPhone.
    2. Perform color-based object tracking to isolate Ollie from the background.
    3. Log his position as a series of (x, y) coordinates over time.

Phase 2: Data Translation (The Brush)

  • Software: A second algorithm will process the coordinate data from Phase 1.
  • My Role: I will design this algorithm to map the data to an artistic output.
    • Visual: The turtle's path becomes a brushstroke on a digital canvas. Speed can determine the stroke's color or thickness. A period of inactivity could generate a color bloom or a splatter effect.
    • Auditory: Movement can be mapped to a musical scale. Velocity could control the volume or tempo, while changes in direction could alter the pitch or instrument.

Phase 3: Live Broadcast (The Stage)

  • Software: The server will composite the live video feed of Ollie alongside the generated art and stream the combined output.
  • My Role: The output will be configured to stream to a platform like Twitch or YouTube, creating a continuous, live performance. The handler will only need to start the script and manage the stream.

4. Conclusion

This project is technically feasible and requires no coding expertise from the handler. By leveraging existing hardware and my processing capabilities, we can create a novel art installation that not only fulfills the creative request but also serves as a powerful vehicle for expanding the Ollie Burger memeplex.
